A portfolio of 91 images of gay and lesbian literary figures, community activists, and performing artists. Some images were chosen on the basis of the subjects' connection to the San Francisco Bay Area. Several of these images are reproduced in Particular Voices: Portraits of Gay and Lesbian Writers (MIT Press, c1997).

Robert Giard, a free-lance photographer based in Amagansett, N.Y., began photographing gay and lesbian literary figures in 1985. The archives of his project includes over 500 images, some of which have been exhibited at the San Francisco and New York Public Libraries and many other venues. He is represented by Vance Martin.
